The Louisville Metro Police Department Has Not, In Fact, Changed

The DOJ before it was compromised conducted an investigation and issued a report after LMPD killed Breonna Taylor describing in 50 pages the racist underpinning of its policing. A Consent Decree was drafted. The City slow-walked it and a new DOJ eventually threw it in the garbage. We were promised the City would enforce the spirit of the Consent Decree nonetheless. Now Black drivers are twice as likely to be searched by LMPD as white drivers, even though evidence of crime is less likely to be found on Black drivers. Promises broken, again.
